Physicochemical assessment of leachate from Pokhara landfill site and its impact on the quality of Seti River water, Nepal

The management of municipal solid always poses serious environmental problems on land, air, and groundwater, especially in the case developing countries. characterization assessment leachates are necessary to understand water quality urban region as well has enormous importance sustaining livelihoods people riverine environment maintaining ecological balance. Landfill leachate contains thousands complex components, which contaminate nearby bodies, communities with several hazardous ingredients. present study was conducted assess influence landfill Seti River water. samples were collected from four stations (Tatopani, Ramghat, Landfill, Below landfill, Kotre). analyzed for pH, total hardness, dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand, turbidity, solids, electrical conductivity (EC), Cl-, NH3, PO43- by standard methods. pH EC measured situ whereas other parameters laboratory adopting protocols. physicochemical river that compared monitor level contamination. research reveals have insignificant pollution matching World Health Organization (WHO) guideline values. Regular monitoring sustainable waste is essential integrity region. Scientific information obtained this could contribute policymakers downstream segments basins.
